Reference Map

A wonderful map showing Carpatho-Rusyn villages is the Carpatho-Rusyn Settlement: A Map and Gazetteer, by Paul R. Magocsi. This 30 by 40 inch map is available in folded or rolled form for $16.75 from Carpatho-Rusyn Research Center, Inc., 7380 SW 86 Lane, Ocala, FL 34476-7006, USA.  Many other great publications on Carpatho-Rusyn subjects are available from the same source.  The map and gazetteer is an absolute must have item for anyone pursuing Carpatho-Rusyn Genealogy.

Turn-of-the-century maps

For turn-of-the-century maps, check out the Middle European maps at Genealogy Unlimited (they can also be reached at 1-800-747-4877 or at Interlink Bookshop & Genealogical Services, 4687 Falaise Drive, Victoria, B.C. V8Y 1B4, CANADA). There's a 6 week or longer wait for these maps which are $24.95 (Canadian $) each. These are wonderful maps which often include two different names for each village-a local name and the Hungarian name. These maps show the area as it was when many of our Carpatho-Rusyn ancestors left Europe.
